- VIRTUAX VERSION 1.0 - DEMO READ ME FILE
- =======================================
-
- A VIRTUAL GUITAR REFERENCE AND PRACTICE TOOL
-
- SLICK AND SIMPLE....AND FULL OF GUITAR GOODIES!!!
-
- This is a demonstration version of Virtuax 1.0. Virtuax is a graphical
- and musical guitar reference/instructional tool for use with Microsoft
- Windows (tm) 3.1. This demo contains most all of the functionality of
- the registered version, but lacks the extensive database. I hated to
- have to release a "crippled" version, but, as we all know, there are
- more than a few dishonest people out there. Please see the help file
- (after installation) for additional details on use and ordering.
-
- HIGHLIGHTS OF THE REGISTERED VERSION:
- ------------------------------------
-
- * Please note that the full version has over 4000 specific chord
- charts along with over 2300 specific scale charts (this covers
- the various fingerings for the basic modes, many common scales,
- and over 40 different exotic scales)!!!!!!!
-
- * You will also receive the necessary tools to expand upon the
- libraries of chords, scales, and arpeggios using two special
- accompanying applications. These Windows based applications
- allow you to designate your own names, formulas, and fingerings
- for new charts, or you can change any information in the existing
- charts to suit your needs.
-
- * The registered version also includes help files that cover
- several music theory topics to help you utilize and expand
- upon the information in Virtuax.
-
- GENERAL OVERVIEW:
- ----------------
- Virtuax includes a virtual guitar with MIDI fuctionality and a digital
- metronome that are both fully configurable. Virtuax lets you play around
- using your mouse, or you can reference the library of chords, scales,
- and arpeggios. All charts are displayed on the virtual guitar using
- a color-coded and numbered notation that tells you exactly how to
- finger each of the charts. Chords can be played instantly so you can
- hear how they sound, and all the charts can be played one note at a time
- so you can play along (with or without the metronome). You set the
- tempo, volume, and preferred instrument voice and then let it rip!
- Virtuax even includes a tuner to keep you in tune.
-
- HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
- ---------------------
- To use the software, you need the following...
-
- - Microsoft(tm) compatible mouse
- - Sound Blaster(tm) or compatible MIDI capable sound card
- - 486SX or higher (486DX strongly recommended)
- - 3MB RAM (4MB or more strongly recommended)
- - VGA 640x480x256
- - 1.5MB of Hard Drive space
-
- INSTALLATION:
- ------------
- First, place all of the files in a directory on your hard drive or
- copy them to a floppy. Then to get started with this demo, run the
- INSTALL program (from the directory or floppy) from within Windows(tm).
- The INSTALL program will create a VIRTUAX directory in your Windows
- directory, so make sure you have enough disk space (1.5MB). It will
- also create the program group for you.
-
- USAGE:
- -----
- The demo lets you pick the root note from a list of all theoretically
- possible roots (This is to keep things simple for the non-theory
- players who are cool jammers, too! So what if you've never heard of a
- tune in D#? If it sounds good, play it and call it whatever you want!).
- Once you select a root note, you can double click on a chart to display
- it on the guitar neck. The chart will show you everything you need to
- know about its fingering. Click on the arpeggio-play button and you will
- hear what it should sound like. Chords work the same way, but you have
- option of pressing the chord-play button instead which will play all of
- the notes at once so you can really hear the chords 'flavor'.
-
- I wanted to keep the interface simple and intuitive so that most all
- players could understand and use it. My goal was to present the most
- information (simple to advanced) and still make it accessible to everyone
- without requiring any real guitar training.
-
- See the help file for more info, instructions, legalities, and ordering.
